Haven't been thinking about it much

But I’m still slightly annoyed and confused by how the last 2 people I saw for mental health are changing my diagnosis to bipolar with psychotic features.

I know, I know… Supposedly it shouldn’t matter the diagnosis as long as the meds are working…

I personally would just like to know for certain…

I have an appointment with my psychiatrist nurse practitioner next week and it’s got me thinking about it.

Eh :person_shrugging:

There is no for certain with mental health diagnoses. Things change over time, Drs have different opinions, even the criteria for diagnoses change over time.

I kind of want to be dx with sz. Because it sounds more severe than psychosis NOS and feels like it validates my experience better. I haven’t had a review for many years.

I agree with @Moon

My diagnosis has changed several times. The first (34 years ago) was Schizotypal Personality Disorder. For most of the next 20 years, it was Recurrent Major Depression with Psychotic Features. (I think that was in the DSM-4, but I think it was omitted from the DSM-5, not sure). One doctor then diagnosed me with Schizoaffective Disorder. Then, I’m not sure what it was. Now, it’s Schizoaffective Disorder, Depressive Type. I don’t care what they call it anymore.
