I have had schizophrenia since I was 30. The last 10 years my anxiety has worsened to the point that some days I cannot go out anywhere. I am 57 years old now and where I work I can retire at 60. But that is still over 2 years away. I am trying to get on my workplace disability plan but the insurance company is dragging out my claim. I am worried and rightfully so as I currently have to survive on any savings I have. I could retire early but it would be less money. Hopefully I don’t lose my home over this
Realistic thinking!

I have been approved for long term disabilty through my workplace. But that led to the insurance company sending a health consultant to visit me in my home and interview me. He has decided that I should meet with an Occupational Therapist to transition me back to work with something called "Progressive Goal Attainment Program " Has anybody heard of that? It’s a 10 week program according to Google.
It appears to many people that the system is heartless.
For example, when I was 23 years old and went into the welfare office because I didn’t have enough to eat, they laughed at me. They told me I should simply call my parents. I was not in favorable relations with my parents, however.
These folks you are going to deal with may have a very different view of schizophrenia than you do, Doug.
When I had to deal with an aggressive benefits system, I found free legal advice, which I encourage you to do.
They go by their guidelines, which I encourage you to try to anticipate.
Hi Jayster.
In my case I have union representation so Monday I will phone their office to ask advice. And I appreciate your input.
