So I should be using nicotine products?
That’s a good question I hope he answers.
It seems a possibility according to the summary:
There is certainly evidence that smoking can improve cognitive abilities and can mitigate certain schizophrenia symptoms. However, in humans these studies are particularly challenging because it can be difficult to separate any beneficial effects of nicotine from the reversal of withdrawal-induced deficits.
The results indicate that nicotine (or nicotinic agonists) could normalise prefrontal cortex and reduce some of the cognitive deficits found in people with schizophrenia. However, this needs to be interpreted in the context of many human clinical trials, which have found little clear evidence of benefits of such treatments.
Hmmm might go out and buy a vape rig tomorrow. I need to quit smoking. But if nicotine is good for me I shouldn’t quit that
It might be good for you. For me, I gave up smoking 13 years ago. The question is should I go out and buy a vape to improve my cognitive abilities?
Will a psychiatrist tell me to take up vaping for my health?
If you mean smoking more cigarettes- then no. I am not at all up on other nicotine products you can buy. I think it may be a case of waiting for the boffins to develop something for therapeutic use.
Vaping isn’t great for you either. Maybe a patch or gum.
Smoke em if ya got em
