NHS taking it for granted

I know it’s not perfect, but the last time I walked into a&e for my gran, granted we waited more than 4 to 5 hours but we got seen and didn’t have to pay … and yes I don’t see a pdoc for years sometimes, but I’m still glad support is there when I need it.

It’s better than not having insurance.

Or trapped to a job for insurance.

Also insurance premiums range from shitty almost not worth anything to good.

We have homelessness cause people fall out of the system.

Yes. NHS is good not perfect. Americans who move to UK even have said its better.

I dislike how they treat Americans with drug prices

You guys pay the most and get treated like lab rats with the newer meds

Not saying there dangerous per say but I don’t think they can really know how good it is unless they introduce it to a wider population

Takes the piss that you have to pay through the nose for meds!

The NHS has collective bargaining power and if they don’t like the price is an entire market a company loses

It’s a big problem. People literally die unnecessarily suffer unnecessarily.

In February, my dpoc knows I’m still struggling with positive symptoms.

I asked her about trying newer Vraylar cause I been on a lot of FGA and SGA

She said negative things and said btw it “would be very expensive.”

And I have “GOOD” insurance from one of the best Healthcare US healthcare system.

In general my care is good and above average.
I have both serious physical and mental health needs.

Its one of the main reasons Economic Migrants come over here is to use the NHS for operations after getting a 6 month “study” visa. Bear in mind, i said “economic” - they are not escaping persecution.

And some, so long as they are claiming Universal Credit and are “actively” seeking work, and i say that with sarcasm - they are entitled to register at the Doctors.

Its a scam thats been going on for years. Probably why a large proportion voted to come out of the EU.

They have tightened up on in recent years tho - but it still costs the NHS money providing 1 way tickets and a limited amount of meds to their original Country.

A scam is a scam.

But immigration in general is not a scam. It’s a legitimate necessity and benefit for both the country and an opportunity for the immigrant.

Im not gonna turn this into a debate. But us british people have been hacked off for years, with migrants coming over being put up in hotels, with an increase in the crime rate - whilst our ex-services are dossing it in parks.

Im not anti immigration - we got a lovely polish community here - that do the jobs on minimum wage - most brits wont do. But do a bit of research eh? On the state of the uk.

You Clearly never visited the Uk.

Anyway - this thread is about OUR NHS - people keep poncing off!! :stuck_out_tongue:

i think i got it pretty good. last time i went to the ER it was about a 15 minute wait. got blood EKG and xray. and i can see a psychiatrist as much as i want. and its all free. medicaid.

@Naarai no problem, i do think the NHS is better than private healthcare. I stand by that.

I never have sought out medical care from the NHS. I just went once to an expensive Chinese Medicine place while I was staying in London.

In the US I was insured by Aetna and when I was hospitalized I had a $28K bill which was covered.

In Belgium there is a system of co-payment, where the largest part is covered by the Government.

No system is perfect, but when you’re very ill I preferred to be close to home and family.

The best coverage I’ve had was from BUPA (a British private company) when I was living in Singapore. They covered 90% of alternative healthcare like Chiropractic.
