Its in Hindi newspaper today, that helth care and hospitals in Britain are in very bad situation. Every week 500 patients died. Ambulance charge 600 ponds for short distance hospitals. Waiting list for phisician are 6 months and for major operation are 18 months. People are dieing in verandah.
Is it true.
Similar situation in Canada.
Deliberate underfunding for ideological purposes.
Not all true. Ambulances are free even for foreign tourists. There is delays getting one though as ambulance staff and nurses are striking over pay.
I have had fantastic services for the last 12 years from the intellectual disability team. I see my community nurse every 3 weeks, we go out for coffee and a chat, he took me out in his car to a pub restaurant over Christmas like he has done for past 7 tears.
I see my pdoc every 3 months. I’m on expensive ‘for Americans’ second generation antipsychotics. I don’t pay for. All NHS.
I get funded from the NHS for 31 hours one to one support a week from a care company so I can live independently. All free. I get very generous disability benefits for my my disability. (over two 2 lakh a month in Indian money) I went abroad 4 times last year and going to Sri Lanka twice this year.
Britain isn’t on its knees.
Yes, well. This situation is because of strike of public medical staff in Britain. Private medical hospitals are charging that.
not many people use Private hospitals. And the NHS even send people to private hospitals for minor surgery all the time paid for my the NHS. I have seen the extreme poverty in Mumbai and Delhi, Think I’ll stick to Britain thank you. We don’t have the poverty here like India.
The NHS is knackered in my area. The sister works in the Emergency Assesment Unit down south here as an RN, and she saying the waiting times are terrible.
Sorry but i dont trust them for when I’m a decrepit old man - I will be paying for private insurance.
Good luck if you can afford private insurance when your old plus if your condition is complicated they just ship you back to the NHS.
Current Quote is about £65 a month. Pre-existing conditions, like my sz i know wont be covered. But it will be handy for old age. At least i will have private room then.
Its not the question @bobbilly , but I want to say probable cause of poverty in India is population. About 13oo million and in Britain not touch 100 million.
We shouldnt compare healthcare systems but in england gp waiting times are bad and so is A&E
I want to say, my Mental Health Service here is pretty good tho. God knows ive given them crap over the years - and they have always stuck by me.
I was shocked how much its costs them for my monthly depot.
Its been said it can be a bit of a postcode lottery when it comes to treatment for physcial conditions.
I’d second this take, MH services have never really disappointed me at all
The situation is caused from decades of goverment cuts, underinvestment and mismangement of the NHS.
