Also need some advice. I’m 90% sure he has hip dysplasia. How big a deal is this? I read dogs with hip dysplasia can live normal lives. Also I think it’s pretty fitting that my dog would also have a disability lmao. Will this be more trouble then it’s worth? What are the chances if I bring him back that he gets put down?
Oh how adorable
What makes you think he has hip problems?
His back legs are weak, he’ll just kind of slump to the ground randomly and his gate is a little wobbly. Im not 100% positive but I’m pretty sure. Everything I’ve read says that at 8 weeks he should be sturdier than he is.
I dunno, he sounds like a normal baby puppy to me but only a vet can tell you otherwise.
My dog was four months old when we adopted him and his back legs were still a little wobbly. He’s good now, knock on wood.
For what it’s worth, your puppy is very cute .
Did you pick out a name for him yet?
Ok, that makes me feel a bit better. Right now I’m calling him Artie but there’s a couple other options I’m thinking about.
Maybe he’s just blooming a little late? Very cute puppy.
He does look like an Artie
Short for artorias or maybe in honor of Artie Lang lol
Our yellow lab has hip dysplasia. I wish I had a pic of her showing this, but she sits similar to this:
She also lays down with her hip swiveled, like this:
She has a very happy and healthy life despite this. She can still run and get around fine at age 10. We give her glucosamine/chondroitin treats every day to help with her hips.
Well that settles it. Keeping him even if he has it.
even If he does have issues, you have to accept him either way.
Aww what a sweetie!
The only dog I ever lived with long term was a quiet yellow lab who I walked around the neighborhood twice a day. They are such great dogs.
It’s good to see a dog live on despite challenges. Our lab got lime disease when she was 8 and almost died, but we gave her TLC and she recovered and lived 5 more years, including all the years she spent with me.
Yellow labs are awesome dogs. That’s great that yours was able to get through a lyme’s scare. Ours also had lyme’s at one point. Luckily, like yours, she recovered.
