So I went to the movies yesterday and there was a preview for a movie called “split”. It was about a guy with multiple personality disorder. I couldn’t help but have a reaction to the trailer as it was another demonic horror film about a terribly misunderstood disorder. To make matters worse, some obnoxious little wise guy in the back row shouted, “that’s what I deal with every day” it looks frightening
Damnit as a horror movie lover I’m often torn between enjoying it and being offended…plus horror movies seem to use mi as a crutch when they don’t have any good ideas…I wish Hollywood would come up with some new ■■■■ instead of recycling…
Dude @flameoftherhine I read your post a week or so ago about that ride in California. This movie looks so bad I honestly got the chills. I couldn’t destinguish between what the character was suffering with and sz. It’s terrible how bad they make it look. The guy was a complete monster.
See that’s going too far…I’ll probably avoid this movie…
Shamalayan is the producer. He’s known for making shitty horror films. This one is just downright despicable. A guy with multiple personality disorder that kidnaps a group of teens. And the title, cmon it’s like we’re still in the dark ages
I saw the preview for it too
Wasn’t Shamalyan know for doing other movies where someone with MI was the villain. I remember there was a post on here about someone lamenting about it.
I was lamenting about it and “Split”. The other one, I think is called “The Visit” and the villains/monsters are an elderly couple both with sz who had escaped a psyche ward nearby.
In “Split”, it looks like the main character has DID. I complained about it before too.
There needs to be more education about what’s commonly referred to as "abnormal psychology ". I think the more real information people have, the less dehumanizing will occur. It’s shameful.
Shamalamma is an idiot…and a terrible director…minus very little in his body of work…I may just watch it now to pick it apart…I love dissecting shitty movies…
i’m actually schizophrenic and this movie just made me laugh. i loved it!
I notice movies about males with mental health problems always make them out to be dangerous.
