New goals for the next month

By the end of next month, I’d like to have reduced my time on this forum by half and cut my screen time down to 4 hours per day average. Anything good to do instead? Spotify? Read? Movies? I’m trying to reddit as a “stepping stone” to using this forum less. My only other “real” goal is to keep seeing my peer coach client. This week we are going to support group, clubhouse, and the gym. Once I graduate from day treatment and work more clients, I will add more gym days with my clients. I’m not sure if I want to “work on” going back to being a sub eventually or invest in a car and keep hustling at this job, but I will wait to decide that in 6 months. How do you guys spend your day/Internet time, usually? Is there anything productive one can do with their free time like learn something useful?? I’m trying to exit “social media addiction”. I’m thinking of taking up web design. Maybe there are websites like upwork I can go to?

You could try this site :

https://www.lynda.com/in/linkedin-learning?src=go-pa&veh=sem_src.go-pa_c.l4-EMEA-SEM-Brand_pcrid_294908675999_pkw_lynda_pmt_e_g.EAIaIQobChMIv_Kc4-im5AIViaztCh2nIAyzEAAYASAAEgKxcPD_BwE_learning&trk=sem_ldctest2lillp_c.l4-EMEA-SEM-Brand_pkw.lynda_pcrid.294908675999_g.EAIaIQobChMIv_Kc4-im5AIViaztCh2nIAyzEAAYASAAEgKxcPD_BwE_learning&lpk35=9137&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIv_Kc4-im5AIViaztCh2nIAyzEAAYASAAEgKxcPD_BwE

The problem is you have to set up a linkedin profile and it’s not free.

I hope you stay here rather than reddit. That’s not a great place to go to for support. But if you’re looking to reduce screen time:

My therapist gave me homework to take up a hobby with the intention of sucking at it. It was an exercise in teaching myself that not everything I do has to be perfect, sometimes it just has to be fun. I took up guitar, and now 8 months later I am actually not terrible. Because I just keep practicing. But I still suck mostly, because I keep trying more and more advanced things.

Find a hobby you always wish you were good at, but never felt good enough to do. Just start doing it. Eventually, you’ll get better. And even when you don’t do great, you can still have fun and relax.

The duolingo app is excellent for productive free time hobby. It helps a person learn a new language from a variety of language choices. I can’t say I’ve ever met a person say they learned to speak Spanish from Duolingo, but at the very least I’m sure it can help a person get a grasp for a new language. I’ve tried it and retouched up on my French. (Mostly I forgot it again due to lack of using it.) In the end, it’s a neat little app that is a productive way to use free time.

I’ve decided to start doing some independent study to reduce my online time. going to start buying books and studying world religions, economics, schizophrenia, and I would like to be fluent in Spanish.

now that gardening season is over and im not sunbathing I have about 3-4 hours of free time a day. so I think i’d like to improve my knowledge on these topics during that time.

I got to do something, I get so bored living in the country. and I exercise quite a bit. when basketball season starts I will watch some games, and sometimes I watch movies on amazon prime. last night I watched ‘case 39’.

good luck on your goals.

Yeah this forum has given me greater knowledge of how people cope with sz. I’m just starting to grow dependent on it and feel lonely at night when there’s no forum to go on. I think I will write my goals in my journal instead. I like this site, but it’s becoming an addiction.

Tukey I feel the same. I live in nyc and work for a very busy law firm with lots of OT. So I’m able to fill up a lot of my time but even still as soon as I’m done at work I head straight to this site. It’s very addictive and the coping skills I’ve picked up from living with a mental illness like this is priceless. A journal is an awesome idea.

Feeling like your really not alone in this kind of suffering is truly a good thing.

Why do you want to exit this forum? I’m curious.

What I do in my free time is read either news, books, or articles about animals but unfortunately it doesnt cut screen time because I use my phone

I am finding when I’m on my phone less, I am more engaged in real life. Yesterday instead of using the phone, I did the laundry and went out for a walk and showered!
