New era of antipsychotics?

In addition to Ulotaront and Karxt, i see a lot of posts about new drugs in the development phase.
Some drugs are in phase 1, others in phase 3, etc. But I am surprised by the number of new antipsychotics that are coming. Could we say that in less than 5 years we will have a better treatment? :grinning:

I’ve been hearing that we’re five years away from miraculous new treatments for the past thirty years. I’ll believe it when I actually see it happening.

I think the same. We don’t have to trust the FDA as much. There are big businesses behind the drugs

I wouldnt bank on it. In the last 13 years i havent noticed anything different. Just slight variations of the same stuff.

Sorry if I say something that is not understood I am Argentine and I use the google translator :joy: :joy: :joy:

Going from crap like chlorazine and haloperidal to rexulti and geodon was a really nice step up. That and CBT are the most profound changes I’ve seen in conventional treatment over three decades. The one supplement that really worked for me (and continues to) is Amyloban 3399. There are threads here on it.

Don’t you think karxt and ulotaront are different from other conventional antipsychotics?

Interesting, I had never heard of this medicine.

mental illness wont ever go away we have evolved in a way where a lot of people just cannot control their own thoughts, feelings, emotions.

Supplement. Works really well for under half the people I’m aware of trying it, no effect for some, and drives a smaller group up the wall with anxiety. It’s concentrated lion’s mane mushroom. I and others have tried using cheaper products instead and they just don’t work.

After 30 years I would have to say that the drugs I’m taking now are better on the symptoms then the ones I was taking when I first got sick. Still they leave a lot to be desired.

Those are target different receptors yes but just dont bank on it being the magic pill. Cuz then thats just 5 more years you waited to get up to something good in life lol.
By all means i hope theres a major breakthrough on treating negative symptoms.

The only marginal thing that helps negatives (sometimes) is caffeine and sarcosine for me. Besides that just forced habits
