What are peoples thoughts on the future of antipsychotics and the direction science and pharmacology is heading with the soon to be approval in the near future of new antipsychotics such as; Ulotaront and Kartx?

I’m really hopeful for Ulotaront. I also wonder if it would be a really helpful med for people who are just anhedonic. A lot of people are skeptical of the numbers though and say it doesn’t provide as good relief as we hope
I think we’ve hit our tech limit on the old dopamine blockers. Better partial antagonists seems to be the thing and maybe next generation drugs are more complex or act on different receptors. I think it will be a mix for quite a while but there’s hope with better scientific banks and such pooling data for research. Antipsychotics are big money spinners so better drugs means more profit for the big pharma.

I dont really get why pharmaceuticals kept releasing new antipsychotics that just block dopamine receptors. There all basically the same thing. Ulotaront and karxt are the first actual new antipsychotics to be released in a long time.
