when better medications come out based on Karxt. I am assuming in 10 years 5-10 medications can come out based on it, without much side effects, so people will take them, and people will go back to work (just like they work with Blood pressure medications). Then the main question will be diagnosing people at risk, and that is also an area of research. Better times ahead, I am 38 and too old to wait for another 10 years, so I guess I got to live with what I got.
I have been hearing that a fantastic med is just around the corner in the next few years for the last thirty years. It will be nice if it ever happens, but I’m not counting on it. Most of the improvements have been incremental to date.
Maybe in 10-20 years if they find a way to use LLms to find new ways to treat symptoms then it will.
Don’t bank a lot of hope on Karxt or any of the newer antipsychotics coming out.
Like @shutterbug said, these drugs had small improvements to date
Damn… That’s a letdown. I read an article on the forum that made me hopeful about negatives being less likely with the new drug.
No I don’t know much about Karxt @AKendrick
I was speaking in generalities
@Aziz isn’t here right now he is taking a break and I hope he is okay, but he talked up Vraylar like it being tantamount to the Second Coming in terms of relieving negatives. I’ve got negs in spades and it’s like going through life dragging a boat anchor for me. I was so excited when I talked my insurance company into Vraylar!
Guess what? Hardly a bump with my negs. I get more from Wellbutrin. I get way more help than both meds together from brewing probiotic sauerkraut at home for pennies on the dollar and adding some to each meal. I’m tired of being let down by a succession of meds so I no longer get my hopes up.
Pharma. Blah. Necessary evil, but sure as hell not the end all be all. They’re only one piece of my puzzle.
