Hi. After waiting 3 months my funding for carers have been approved. So from next week i will get 9 hours a week care support from a local agency. Its costing me £60 a week topup out my personal independence payment, but im pleased. Im hoping they will help me budget properly and give me the social interaction i crave instead of wondering down the pub everyday for company. I could also seriously do with the help on keeping my council flat clean.
I see it as a new start. I can begin again and start making friendships that dont revolve around the local pub - which is where most of my money is wasted.
If i have a carer visit me for a couple of hours, i wont have the need to go out and spend money i havent got for company (and usually drink too much!).
Ive got faith in my social worker - and this could be really positive for me, just not my mental health but my finances as well.
I get 3 hours a week towards cleaning and shopping. I think if I said I needed help socialising then I’d be in line for more. My social skills are supposedly very poor and apart from family the only other person I see regularly is the depot nurse. The truth be told though I’m not champing at the bit to interact with other people.
