My nurse practitioner is deciding to put me on a replacement for Latuda. I am going to wait for a month to find out. I hope to have some say in the matter. She’s thinking it over. I dread a new AP. I have been on Latuda for nine years. These drugs are harmful. The side effects are sometimes worse than the effect of the actual drug. Also-I have been getting samples instead of buying the Latuda at the pharmacy. I might have to pay out of pocket if there are no free samples of the new drug.
You have been getting free samples for 9 years? A lot of people may wonder how you pulled that off.
With the help of my psychiatrist and the drug rep.
Why are you going on a new drug?
Generic Latuda is supposed to be coming next year (2023) and it’ll be cheaper than brand name Latuda.
Why not try caplyta. I have heard good things about it. Dosnt antagonize dopamine receptors as strongly so it.might help with side effects.
It seems like you’ve been struggling lately @martinhersey so I hope this is a positive change for you. Fingers crossed!
The drug rep for my facility is running out of Latuda.
I got free samples for like a week but I have pretty good insurance. I had to pay like a $25 copay for Latuda if I got it from the pharmacy and like $35 for three months when I switched to Express Scripts. Now that I am back at the VA it’s free.
You don’t have any insurance?
I have Medicare.
That won’t cover Latuda? I have Medicare also. But I don’t have part D for drugs. I use Tricare I have from the military. I just have part B.
It’s much too expensive for me!
I’ve heard Latuda is a good AP. May I ask you what kind of side effects you had with Latuda?
Becoming brain dead.
