I’m diagnosed with sza bipolar type and i’m going to be getting off of zyprexa and switching to latuda. Anyone have experience with this drug?
I like it a lot.
It was effective for me but I think Risperdal is more effective from my experience and according to Wikipedia. I was on 80mg for a year but it gave me bad nausea and bad akathisia. You might not get these side effects though.
I would say its effectiveness compared to the side effects is the best out there.
It’s done wonders for me. I’m on 120 mg. My delusions are mostly gone, and my paranoia is down kind of.
I was fine on Latuda for 18 months and then this all started happening.
Now I take Amisulpride
I’m on 60 mg and currently (not always) symptom free. I function like I don’t have the illness.
I am stable and well on latuda.
All my delusions went away.
Thankful for it.
I’m so well I lowered my max dose to now minimum dose.
according to my doctor it’s not very good for psychosis but very good for bipolar depression
Do they have a generic version of it.
Not in Canada. There was a thread before about it and I think there isn’t in the US either.
Latuda is about $1500 a bottle. No generic. If I didn’t get it for free I definitely couldn’t afford it.
How’d you get it for free?
I am a veteran. Served 26 years in the Navy and Marine Corps. The VA gives me all my meds for free. Before I had my disability rating they were only $8 each. I have insurance too. When I use that Latuda is $30 for a three month supply but I started going to the VA again. You can’t beat free.
Worst medication I ever tried. I felt like I was off medication and I got migraines and felt nauseated. I hated the fact that I had to have food with it. I was over the FDA recommended dose plus Risperdal.
I thought at the time I was being targeted by microwaves or scalar waves at the time.
I recommend something stronger. I take Vraylar 9mg and it costs 2500 a month, but I only pay $15 because of insurance.
Latuda also gave me bad nausea.
Why are they so expensive??
Latuda has been the best ap for me in my experience. Everyone is different especially with ap meds.
