This drug is powerful. I’m only taking .5mg and it still makes me feel like the joy I had in life is gone! Anyone out there know how to counteract this?
Even a small amount medicated me into an inert lump. It’s strictly a crisis med for me, definitely not a maintenance med. Doctors generally don’t prescribe this one lightly – have you been having some problems with positive symptoms that required an industrial strength med to beat them down?

No, I asked my doc for it because I have a friend that takes 4mg without side effects.
I envy your friend. Haldol hits me like a tonne of bricks! You’ll find you start acclimatizing to it after a few weeks, but it will be an unpleasant wait. Condolences.

When I was on Haldol I was totally demoralized. I used to lie in bed all the time and day dream of easy ways to commit suicide. It was such a relief when they put me on Geodon and Seroquel. My quality of life is a thousand per cent better. I’ve been stable on Geodon and Seroquel now for over ten years. There’s no reason you should be taking Haldol when they have better alternatives.
Like an idiot, I asked my pdoc about taking Haldol - she laughed and said that she didnt wan’t to turn me into a Zombie
Yes - Haldol turned me into a zombie as well. I couldn’t take it well, so I quit using it. I wanted to cut all the time to feel something.
What do you take pixel?
I have been taking .5mg for like 3 months. I started on 4mg and felt too zombie it was hard to function.
My husband takes 2 mg of Haldol for paranoia. He was extremely tired in the beginning, so his pdoc lowered the dose and then, slowly increased it. He feels fine now.
His main med is zyprexa (20 mg)
and also klonipin (3 mg)
and celexa.(60 mg — he had an EKG before he started taking 60 mg and will have another EKG in two weeks.
Geodon (AP) and Effexor (AD).
