Need some sound advice (fitness-related)

I culminated at 320 pounds. The nurse who gives me my injections says I don’t look like it because I’m broad but I would like to get thinner as it poses certain hurdles in life to be too big. I have three choices and I can’t quite make a decision. I need advice on which way to go.

  1. I have a home gym. It needs to be fixed and the supplement shop said it would only cost me 60$ to fix it. The problem with the home gym is I have a neighbor with whom I have a really bad relationship, and one day as I was training in the middle of the night (not smart I know) he banged on my walls and came to knock on my door to let me know the motion of the weights dropping on the rack made his apartment tremble. Since then I haven’t used it. I was a bit careless about letting the weights fall back on the stack before and was wondering if I accompany the movement to let them back in place will he still hear it? The advantage with the home gym is it won’t cost me anything besides the repair. I also have a stationary bike for cardio.

  2. Gym near my House. It’s a small boxing gym with weights and machines in the basement. I like it because it’s 5 minutes away from my House. It’s around 60$ a month for the membership, the facility isn’t all that nice, and the owner sometimes gets on my nerves (talks too loud, says I need to train harder, wants people to unrack the weights after use). I can walk briskly to get there and I feel good upon leaving.

  3. Gym a little bit further. I’ve been at this gym 7 years ago and spent close to 3 years there. It is really big and nice with lots of machines and space for everyone. In the morning there are only some seniors and the occasional gym rat. There is a sauna and showers, and some drinks at the counter. It’s around 250$ for a yearly membership. The downside is I will need to spend another 60$ monthly for a bus pass to get there, and it takes 10 to 15 minutes by bus to get there.

Which would you pick? The advantage to going to a gym is I might meet some people, it’s better than staying in, also I don’t want to risk another flare up with my neighbor but it kills me to see the home gym gets no use… Need help choosing.

Thanks.

  1. Actually, I know what I’m going to do, there is a gym at a tech school, down the road, it will take a bus pass to get there, but the view is incredible, it’s not as nice as the third option but still better than 2nd in terms of facility. I think I found my gym. I was there for just two months but got put into the Hospital, I’d love to go back, I have fond memories of the place…

Excercise is part of a healthy lifestyle, so the money you will use are well spent. I would go fro the expensive gym 10-15 minuttes away, but thats just me.

lol just kidding buddy. I should weigh around 170-instead I’m like 240 right now. And I’m just 5 9, ya know it sucks since my joints are busted up sorta bad. Maybe I should take up some lap swimming to get in some healthy cardio?

Yeah I got carried away writing all that stuff, in truth, I’m not sure I have the courage to wake up at 5 am and be in gym by 7 every morning. I have to accept the fact that appearance isn’t everything. It helps to know some people are going through the same thing, I don’t know where my motivation went… Anyways thanks for the tips, fact is, I must have spent over 1000 hours in the gym and have little to show for it.

I’m really sorry to hear that buddy, have you read any literature on lifting and stuff? mortimermouse really works out a lot maybe he could give you a few tips.

Yeah I’ve got the basics down. It’s just that ever since I got back on the meds it’s been true hustle in order to lose weight, I couldn’t shed a single pound. That’s why I think it’s a lost battle. In 5 years I more than doubled my weight. Yeah mouse has a fit body, but he’s young and active so that helps a bunch.

I know what you mean, I gained a lot of weight when they first started medicating me in 2008. I’m 31 now and I’m struggling to retain my strength truthfully. Sometimes it hurts just to walk lol, but I keep going…the thing is these meds really do change us up a lot…for good and bad, you know? Maybe with some sports nutrition guidance with your meds regimen you can still make the gains you want to make. Don’t give up bro, you’re more resilient than most.
