I got a good deal on a personal trainer and she’s going to help me develop a program that I can do on my own. She is helping me with learning some weight machines and a predictable work out and notes that I can practice that I can memorize. She’s taking cognitive into consideration and also helping me with doing workouts that help neurological, such as certain weights. My doctor is happy I’m getting this because he said that exercise helps neurological problems, he said that people with Parkinson’s symptoms disappear when on an exercise bike in one study. If I can just become competent in one thing, Fitness, it would help me feel more human and help me take better care of myself.
Sounds great, I participated in one exercise group last year, it was organized by my local psych clinic and I got some good materials for my own exercise routines that I try to do daily. I have difficulties with my balance and so I try to do some balancing postures. I often just listen to Youtube music and do my exercise routines. One thing I want to do also is to be able to run again. Diabetes and nicotine abuse weakened my legs much and I am recovering from that.
Hi @insight how`s your plan going? I am establishing fitness as a priority possibly, it would be good to have your “feedback”… since you posted more than an year ago, did you have results? I fight weight gain a lot. Regards.
@Dreamy that was just months ago in 2016 but it was good to have a personal trainer to help me with routine and I wrote it down. Could not make my last session and I have not been back to the gym bc ive been struggling but if I go back to the gym someday those fewsessions building a cognitive program will help but i git them for cheap. Good luch
Hi there @insight thanks. I am fat right now, my “original” body is thin although. I have heard of “calisthenics” but I do not know how to start, I am doing initial exercise to lose weight and gain some strength, then I see how I go, I do not pay for gym fees or whatever, I do everything at home. Today I ran about 15min, I did about 15 elevated push ups and 30 abdominals plus warp-up exercises, but I feel very weak still. I want to know how to adapt my diet and keep frequency of exercise so I move on to something better than being just fat. I want to see where it goes and if mind and physical strength is also stronger than antipsychotics weight gain induction. Good luck to you too.
Exercise is only part of the equation. Diet is if anything, even more important. I advise eating a palm’s worth of protein, and fistful of vegetables for every meal, and one handful of carbs. Try to eat 3-4 meals a day. I don’t know about calisthenics but I think it relies a lot on volume of exercises. Try to join a gym and look at various workout videos to learn how to use the machines. For a beginner, machines are more than enough to develop your muscles. Try to do the big 5. That is the chest press, shoulder press, leg press, rows and lat pull downs. Use the machines, get your form right. Do it consistently for 3 times a week, or less, depending on your intensity. Gradually, you can move to free weights. If you are just starting out and don’t know how to use the machines, ask some people in the gym, usually they are nice people. I started back in working out using machines for two months intensely then moved back to free weights and mix of machines. If you are really dedicated and can afford it, look into PN Coaching. They only accept clients twice a year. It is a high quality program that I am currently enrolled in to learn more about nutrition and exercising.
Great. Good luck

Wish my initiative isn’t right now. I am breaking from all things for a while
