Anyone else have tried to relieve their symptoms naturally? And what was y’alls experience with it?

I remember during my insomnia states, I would try melatonin, meditation, and even gulped down chamomile tea which I’m not a big fan of
Nothing worked until Trazodone. Mmm. That thing can knock you out faster than ZzzQuil.

Exercise never helped. Gave me a refreshing feeling that lasted .2 seconds.

Meditation was a waste of time for me. (Actually brought my psychosis and anxiety even worse)
-
I even tried showering with cold water in the morning to wake me up.

I took cbd gummy bears tonight and it just made me depressed.
I’m not sure how it would affect me if I was off antipsychotics.
Sorry about that! Hope you feel better mate.
I tried everything, and was off meds for 2 years. None of it made any difference as nothing I was taking had any antipsychotic properties. So I just ended up back in hospital, psychotic.
Did you ever try CBD???
I was at the tobacco store (more like a head shop) yesterday and I saw these CBD gummies…60 MG treats of CBD…I remembered all the rave from cbdpush and people on this board about the anti-psychotic properties of CBD.
I suppose it could have anti-psychotic properties…but I’m already on anti-psychotics. I really can’t get much more sane than I already am. So it really didn’t do anything other than make me depressed for some reason.
It didn’t even relax me since I’m on benzos I suppose.
Melatonin gives me horribly vivid nightmares so that’s off the menu. Exercise really helps me when I have time for it. I don’t have much time for it these days. Meditation actually winds up my symptoms. Cold water showers leave me with a second belly button - blech.
Fish oil? Nothing. Ginko biloba? Nothing. Ginseng? Nothing. Niacin? Great for pre-workout, but otherwise nothing.
Sarcosine has been incredibly helpful. One of the few supplements that does exactly what is promised. (The other being a pre-workout cocktail that probably contained 'roids, dangerous stimulants, and that my doctor ORDERED me to stop using. Jerk.)
I’ve never heard of that! How does Niacin give you that extra boost? May have to talk to my pdoc about Sarcosine, but my positive symptoms have mostly subsided. It’s the negative symptoms that give me a headache (literally)
Sarcosine is for negative symptoms.
Really? I’ve heard it’s more effective for positive symptoms more than negative
Thanks! Def will mentions this to my doctor.
Nope, it’s definitely for negative symptoms.
Increases blood flow – great during lifting. You turn pink after a big dose of it (niacin flush) – it’s why it’s a primary ingredient in those 5 hour energy shot thingies.
Sarcosine relieves my negative symptoms and gives me a slight cognitive boost. Should also mention that I have rosemary scent around me constantly now. It’s been proven to help memory in studies. I think it actually does help me a bit.
Thank you! This is all very useful information. I don’t mind the rosemary scent. One less problem with forgetting to put on perfume
Tried CBD and theanine when I was off meds and (very) psychotic. CBD worked well, but was too expensive to continue. Theanine helped a little bit. Enough to control my fear and relax me a bit so that I could function, not enough to really keep me permanently out of psychosis.
Tried saffron. When I was on a tiny dose of antipsychotics saffron would be effective in lifting depressed and anxious mood fast. Now I’m on a bigger dose of antipsychotics it doesn’t do as much.
I’m very curious about ayurvedic herbs like ashwagandha, bacopa monneri, sarpagandha or gotu kola, which are supposed to help. F.e. gotu kola or brahmi is supposed to relieve symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia when used as an add-on of olanzapine without extra side effects.
