Natural remedies that work (not sz cures)

Ok, so for fun I, thought we could share things that have worked for is. Natural remedies for various illness. Stuff you have personal experience with.

NO SZ CURES, PLZ

Ok, so things I know work for a few illnesses and injuries:

Apple cider vinegar for some food poisoning cases. I was sick, badly, and drinking apple cider vinegar stopped the symptoms within an hour.

Apple cider vinegar for osteoarthritis pain.

Black pepper, ground, stops bleeding.

Lion’s mane helped my anxiety AND my husbands neuropathy pain some.

St John’s wort improved my mood a little.

Peppermint oil on a cotton ball can help nausea. (Just used for my husband 2 days ago!)

Narrow leaf Plantain (a wild plant that grows everywhere) can help heal cuts and burns. I make a salve with it.

Ginger has helped me in the past with nausea, and ordinary peppermint tea helps me with my digestive problems.

Make sure you google

To get a list of side effects and what med interactions exist.

Ginger really helps with menstrual cramps.

I drank some ginger kombucha when I was on my period once and the cramps totally disappeared.

… And yes, I realize I sound like the world’s biggest hipster with the whole “kombucha” thing

Cold water therapy (cold showers) put my fibromyalgia into remission.

Today was particularly difficult to get under, but I tell myself it is for my own good!

I use some really good sleep remedies:

Calcium/Magnesium
Coffee Cruda (homeopath)
Melatonin
CBD oil – does this count as a supplement?

The four of them together knock me out; without them, I can’t sleep at all.

The combo of CoQ10 and D-Ribose helps with chronic pain.

Anything with lavender is very calming.

No, don’t sound hipster to me. I used kombicha and thought it was going to be bunk but it helped my arthritis like ACV. It’s basically a vinegar.

I bought mine at the Farmers’ Market, from a lavender farmer.

But it looks like you can get lavender spray on Amazon!

I use orange oil to get rid of stickiness!

For example, when I remove my continuous glucose monitor (Dexcom CGM) from my abdomen, and put a new one on a different abdomen spot, the old spot gets black fuzz from shirts, all over the leftover stickiness. I gently rub a cotton round on my skin, with orange oil on it, and it removes the stickiness!!

I’ve also used orange oil to remove sticker residue on other surfaces. Like, if you get a new garbage can and it has a big sticker with the info and barcode… I rip it off and use orange oil to remove the stickiness left behind.

For insomnia, I’ve been suggested a glass of warm milk before bedtime.
For tinnitus, ask your primary care doc for an ear check-up, oftentimes it is wax buildup.
Have weight changes, fatigue, or swelling of the neck? Incorporate seaweed into your diet.
Constipated? Try wasabi peas for fast, effective relief.

There are a lot of good suggestions here. The one that sticks in my head, is using 5-HTP for depression. It is a natural substance, crosses the blood-brain barrier and it works like a charm for me

I take psyllium fiber, Metamucil brand, to reduce cholesterol and appetite. I read that soluble fiber reduces cholesterol. Also taking licorice extract to reduce libido.

Im with you @Aziz

Psyllium husk seeds are the number one treatment for irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and diarrhea. And if you suffer from flatulence (farting) it’s simply the best.

I suffer occasionally from irritable bowel and when i have an attack i eat psyllium for a couple of days and the pain ends. I stay on psyllium for a couple of weeks.

It lowers cholesterol too.

Drink a glass of water when thirsty, dehydrated, parched or even hungry. It’s a great natural remedy.

i take a pinch of cayenne pepper throughout the day as a blood circulation aid, i learned about it in my herbal medicine book, i’ve also heard taking cayenne daily can help alleviate pain, but i have no experience with that and don’t know if it’s true.
