My therapist said we'll do CBT

What do you know about cognitive behavioral therapy? He’s sending me some stuff by email.

He was a bit softer this time our second meeting. And I talked about the first thing I ever should have said.

It has been my salvation. It let me do so much more on less meds for years. I can’t recommend it enough.

I didn’t find anything useful from it but you get homework so it can occupy some time.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy was very helpful to me. Its what i mostly focus on now with my therapist too. It helps refocus some of my fears and reorganize my irrational thinking.

One big problem I have with cognitive and behavioral approaches it that I can’t find automatic thoughts because there don’t seem to be any for me. Behavioral activation feels mechanical. I just go through motions.

Over the years I have become to hate it. This has made me get away from consultations with psychiatrist. I am tired of hearing him telling me about behavioral intervention each time.

Ive done CBT, DBT, EMDR, and ERP. CBT was the least useful for me but it still helped significantly

I’ve done both CBT and DBT

CBT has not been so helpful even though I did the work.

DBT has been more effective in my case

CBT won’t help much if you have difficulty verbalizing things going on inside your head. It seems a prerequisite that you be able to put your thoughts and feelings into words for CBT to be effective.
