hi people, how are you?
me I struggle but its tough.
in fact I am still on Zyprexa but my pdoc gave me Seroquel in addition when I am too agitated in order to sleep. I think she was even ready to introduce it to me as a second ap but she knows that I dont like all these meds…idk if being on 2 aps isn’t too much…
is Seroquel a good med? does it make gain a lot of weight too?
the sedation of it goes away with time I guess?
sometimes I am too ragy, too jealous, I cant control myself, its like I am gonna to explode. plus, the depression in my sz which is really bad after my ragy moments… do you find that Seroquel fights better the depression than the Zyprexa?
ive lost a friend yesterday. my last friend who is ill also. I talked to her badly… she said to me that I went really crazy already, it made me really sad…
thanks in advance for your answers
A few people here take seroquel along with their main AP. Everybody is different though. Good luck with it.
Seroquel is a good med. I was on it for years. The weight gain is tough. Also when I came off of it the effects were difficult. It is great for positive symptoms, anxiety, and insomnia. I didn’t use it for depression so I wouldn’t know about that. Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions.
ok thanks you sungirl and ever :). I hate that I need two meds. I am already 92 kilos in fact, its too much… i guess ill continue to struggle only being on Zyprexa. but when i cant sleep or i am miserable i guess ill take my Seroquel. will it be bad if i take it only when needed @SunGirl ? what do you think, wouldn’t be a mess when taken like this?
The weight gain on zyprexa is prolly worse than seroquel. seroquel helped me with anxiety and sleep but overall wasn’t a deal breaker.
Some people need two APs. I know I am one. I would take it as prescribed by your pdoc. Any med when your body gets used to it will produce effects when you start to remove it. When I came off of it I experienced horrible panic attacks and insomnia. The only side effects I had when I was on it were trouble swallowing and eating until I was full and still feeling hungry. I was on 1,200 mg though. Plus everybody is affected differently.
My wife took Seroquel for sleep. She gained weight only in her belly. She looked 15 months pregnant. Now takes Ambien but doesn’t sleep as well so it’s a trade off.
@SunGirl, my pdoc is a bit too delicate. i guess i am in a miserable state… she didn’t insist on taking it as a second ap, just when i need to sleep. but i felt calm at least with it yesterday. it removed my body pains, my soul pain cause it calms yes…
Been on Seroquel for years and only take the 400mg right before I lie down to sleep. Occasionally, it can make me sleep for 12+ hours straight. Lately, it’s been making me sleep for 8 - 9 hours straight. If I take my meds at daily consistent times, I guess it helps my sleep patterns.
I think it did cause me to gain a little weight when I first started Seroquel. Then, everything just maintained from then on.
For me, the sedation does not go away with time. It acts like a strong sleeping pill whenever I take it.
Sometimes, though, if I have gotten a lot of sleep lately, I can stay awake after taking the Seroquel and not go to sleep.
Sorry about your loss, by the way.
I’ve been on seroquel 600mg for 2 years now. I had bad insomnia and it definitely helps me sleep. As the poster above said it’s almost like a sleeping pill. The weight gain is manageable with excersize. The biggest downside is the intense lethargy when I wake up if I only get 7-8 hours sleep. I can still sleep for up to 12 hours but that’s not a good thing I don’t think.
It has been by far the best medicine I’ve taken for schizophrenia so I’m going to keep taking it. It takes away probably 95% of my symptoms.
