My friends dad is on his last days

I love my friend but I have a serious fear of funerals. I don’t know how to support him but avoid the funeral. Or does that make me a bad person?

It does not make you a bad person, funerals can be stressful and sometimes it is better to avoid funerals but still to support your friend in other ways.

When the time comes, talk to your friend and tell them how you feel.
I’m sure they will understand.

What about the wake/viewing? Does that bother you?

This is so weird. My step grandfather’s funeral was yesterday. My dad went. He said it was a long funeral.

Anyway, in the US most at most wakes I think it is acceptable for friends of the family to come. But I guess some people want family only there.

My stepmom’s dad was a mean man. He made his peace in the end though
