My dog rolled around in

His own sh*t. Seriously. His shirt was covered in it. I washed the shirt and bathed him. Why on Earth do dogs do that?! I’ve heard of this before, but my dog never did it before and he’s a senior now!

Has your dog done this?

No one can relate?! Wow. It must not be common.

Dogs will do this sometimes
It’s not really common with adult dogs but it does happen.
If he continues to do this then maybe make an appointment to see the Vet

Ok. I wonder why they do it

It’s actually more common than I thought.

I read it’s to mask their scent to make getting prey easier

I think he wanted attention

I honestly can’t, but I promise I snorted when I read this :joy:

Cool. I’ve never seen a badger in the wild.

Never seen or smelled Chey or Oliver do that. They are mostly indoor dogs as once they go outside to do their business they come back in right away.

Sorry that I cannot offer anything meaningful to your thread.

Yup, I’ve had to hose off and scrub up my corgi a few times. Not sure what animal it came from, but it was definitely poop.

Ugh! It’s so gross! My dog rolled in his own poop. He was in our backyard when he did it. It was caked all over his chest and abdomen and collar. Eeww!

My previous dog rolled around in some sh*t that was on the front lawn, but it wasn’t his. Another dog, a raccoon, a skunk, I don’t know, but it was gross!

When I was growing up we had a dog that rolled in it and then would immediately run inside and jump up on your lap, sometimes breath smelled like she was eating it too.

Ugh! I guess it’s to mask their scent to make it easier to sneak up on prey.
