My dog just came in. She stinks to high heaven. What is the reason for this?
I realize I could probably look this up…we do have a wonderful thing called the internet that there is probably an answer to on…but lets try to guess without looking.
My guess would be maybe it has something to do with her fur being stirred up by the wind? Its not really that windy though. And of course, dogs dont sweat like we do, I think I’ve heard they sweat through their paws, so I wouldnt think it would be that.
Anyone want to take a poke at it without the internet?
P.S. Since I started typing she smells fine again. It seems to be a short lived phenomena.
Yeah, we actually have some dog perfume/cologne we usually put on her after giving her a bath. So, I suppose I could put some of that on her now. I can’t smell the odor now though. It seems to have only been prominent right after being outside.
Maybe you have gone nose blind to the smell? And when your dog comes back in you recognise it? Lets face it - most dogs stink, but the owners dont realise it, until a stranger and a non-pet owner walks in.
Same deal with weed smokers - they never smell it either.
@Bownes Sometime they like to roll around in their own poop or other animal’s poop. This is done out of natural instinct for hunting in the wild, and sometimes they roll around on or in dead creatures. This is all natural for them and instinct for olden days gone by from when they were wild and free trying to survive and hunt.
