I’m 64, and I am teetering on the brink of a rapid decline. I was exercising a little bit for a while. I can get kind of compulsive about exercise. That’s not good too.
@crimby I’m sorry you’re not doing good I hope things turn around for you
İ m usually doing ellyptical bike for 45 min 3 days of week.its feels good.otherwise i feel like a crap
Years ago, around 2003, I went to the doctor and complained of severe back pain with limited movement. I was expecting narcotic pain medication. But the doctor ordered physical therapy and exercise instead. He told me to start walking.
So, I did. I walked briskly, for 30 minutes, 5 days a week for 2 years. I was obese and didn’t lose an ounce, and the pain didn’t improve much.
That’s when I remembered reading somewhere that yoga was good for the spine. So, I got out an old yoga book of mine, studied it, and tried out a few poses. So far so good. It had been 20 years since I did my last yoga pose.
Next, I found YogaJournal.com on the internet and ordered it. From that magazine, I ordered a three DVD set of beginner’s yoga videos and began doing them consistently at home. Within six months, my back pain was gone as long as I kept up my 4 to 5 day a week yoga practice.
I’ve been faithfully doing yoga for the last 17 years now. I’m still pain free. I take no pain killers. Not even Tylenol. No need. And that is my story.
I’m about to turn 63 years old and I plan on doing yoga until I drop. Literally.
Wow. Thats awesome. I have some back pain but only when i stand to long or sit in a hard chair to long or lay flat on my back. I think its a slipped disc from landscaping. I just deal with it. I used to work out every day and that kept me mostly sane. Once i quit working out i lost my mind. When i first was medicated i walked every day but have stopped. I dont get any exercise anymore. I did buy some exercise bands in hopes of getting more defined arms but k havent used them
Wow @SkinnyMe! What a success story!!!
I try to go for walks the days I don’t work. I work in a big shop so move arounda fair bit when on duty. Other then that I’ve had a program since my teens to train strength every third day. I might postpone it if I had a sleepless night or if I’m sick, but I more or less stick to it. It makes a world of difference when it comes to mood, but also coping physically at work. My workout program is about 35-50 minutes.
