My Christmas wasn't bad

Just the usual frustrations. Drove up with my sister to my parents house up north of San Francisco. My mom is having some problems cause of her health. It is very sad actually. I don’t know how she’s made it to 78 years old with all the things that have gone wrong with her ever since I was a little kid. She survived breast cancer 8 or 9 years ago and Ovarian cancer just a couple years ago when they gave her a 50-50 chance of surviving and then last year she was diagnosed with a special kind of stage 4 lung cancer which they told her she had just a few months to live but then they retracted that diagnosis and said she DIDN’T have cancer. Anyway we all got together and exchanged gifts and talked and then we went out to a fancy dinner. A buffet actually. My step-dad treated everybody. My two sisters,me my nephew and his wife and my brother-in-law and my other nephew. It was good food and a HUGE dining room was jam-packed with people. Like I said, the usual frustrations. You all know the feelings: “Are those two jerks staring at me”? Is the waitress laughing at me"? "
“Is that old man bugging me”? But I made it through and learned an important lesson. There are some WEIRD looking people walking around, both men and women. I’ve never noticed how many BIZARRE looking people there are in the world. Seriously. On the trip home I mentioned it to my sister. I said, " Boy, all those people we strange looking, like me." It cracked her up. She said, “Nick, you think you’re weird looking but you are actually nice-looking and more normal looking than most of those people”! Man having someone on my side is the best feeling in the world! I hope you guys can learn a lesson from this. From our "Pictures " thread on here. Most if not all, of you guys could have been eating at this fancy place and fit right in. in fact a lot of you are more normal looking than a lot of other people. Anyway, blah, blah, blah. We came back to my moms house and I ended up getting a $50.00 gift card for Amazon.com from my nephews wife for a present. And we talked in my moms living room for an hour or two. I think the night was a success and I had a good time.
This Saturday; we do it all again but this time with my Step-mom. I know not everybody Christmas was great and that’s too bad…Obviously I have problems too and I’m lucky to have family.

I am glad you had a good time for Christmas holiday, nick. It’s nice to read your post about the family gathering at your mom’s house and at the restaurant. Take care, brother.

I am glad to read good news, good news make me happy, my Christmas was ok and I spent it alone as I have done it in the past but I feel great, I slept one half of Christmas which might have countered any feelings of loneliness.
