I’ve been reading your forum for a long time, but now I’ve decided to post… My brother was taken to the hospital for the first time in 2011. Now I understand that he has became ill even earlier. Our family hasn’t understood it immediately because we have never faced such illnesses before. During this time the diagnosis has changed - now it’s not a schizoaffective disorder, it’s a continuously current paranoid schizophrenia. Now my brother has been staying in a hospital for 3 month. He has been taking medicines prescribed by a doctor, but his health hasn’t become better. Now they say that he has a malignant schizophrenia. They suggested us to send him to a nursing home. We can’t do that, we are not ready…
Are there any other ways of saving him?
Never heard of a malignant schizophrenia before. Hmmm. Well is he able to get a bit stable at home surely he will be stabilised enough to come home. They wouldn’t put him in a nursing home how old is he senior age?
You can ask him if he wants to go to a nursing home, maybe he does not want to go there. You can wait for your brother to be stable, and after that to take a decision.
Some doc insist on a med when it is not effective, change doctors or go to one unbiased doc who changes meds and see their effect, a right med can save him almost instantly, take care of him and be kind to him, don’t put pressure on him and don’t forget psychotherapy, after a right med its the most important thing✌

Maybe, are there any non-traditional ways of treatment? I’m ready to try everything, the price doesn’t matter
I became ill whilst living in Los Angeles back in 2001. Ive been sick on and off ever since. Drugs and stress are what caused me to have a psychotic break.
Ive been in and out of hospitals and institutions since that time. Im living in hell daily, I wasn’t able to pursue a career, get married, keep friends, I lost it all.
The only hope is that in the next 5 to ten years they may find a much better way of treating these types of conditions. Until then its going to be a heartbreaking journey for your brother, Im sorry to say. I would have killed myself a long time ago if it weren’t for my loving and supportive family. The best thing you can do is to be there for him no matter what.
That and say your prayers that they find a treatment or cure for this terrible illness.
No truer words said

That would be an excellent question to ask in the OTHER forum for family and caregivers. This is the diagnosed forum.
