100 mg Trazodone and 1 mg Ativan combined is no longer helping me fall or stay asleep. Wonderful. I woke up 3 times last night and it took me some time to fall asleep as well. I can’t just keep going on more meds and increasing doses on everything! Jeez!! I gain tolerance in ridiculously short periods of time! This only lasted about 2 weeks!
have you tried supplementing with melatonin its a natural hormone produced in the brain that helps regulate sleep and wake cycles helps you get to sleep and stay asleep and you wont have to worry about serious drug interactions and its available over the counter if you are able to get a hold of your pdoc ask her about it you could probabally take it with the ativan but call a pharmacist and make sure but yes you can develop a tolerance for sleeping pills and have to take more and more to get the same effect they are addictive and if you want to get off your current sleep aids expect some sleepless nights while your body adjusts (tapering them down gradually is best) and melatonin can help but remember you will eventually fall asleep at some point
Do you keep a regular sleep schedule?
Do you have a bedtime routine?
Abstain from eating/exercising/caffeine a couple of hours before bed?
Have you tried meditation? Melatonin?
Have you tried exercising during the day?
Idk just a list of things that you’ve already thought of, because I’m very helpful like that.
No and people keep telling me to try it. My only issue with it is the kind they sell in pharmacies they barely regulate dosage. So you could be giving yourself way too much melatonin on accident and making yourself groggy. For example if the required amount is 1-3 micrograms, you’d see doses of as much as 600 micrograms in the store. It’s crazy.
thats true you dont want to take too much of anything even if it is safer you can OD on anything and you want to start off on the lowest effective dose just to make sure you dont have a bad reaction get ahold of your pdoc and tell her youd like to try adding melatonin and are having trouble sleeping but dont really want to keep increasing on these meds . the most natural medications should always be tried first and used if at all possible and dont feel pressured to take something you dont want stand your ground you make the final decision what you take into your body the doctor knows a lot and can give you suggestions recommendations and medical advice but cant give you orders thats your call its your body not hers .
