It’s annoying to me that websites like the NYT and other reputable news outlets are charging folks to read the news… Sure, it’s only like, 4 bucks for 6 months or something, but semi-restricting access to important information is akin to censorship.
As for Twitter? It’s total caca-doo doo, and has been for a really long time.
Hope Musk runs himself into the ground over it.
They won’t even let me view their recipes anymore because I won’t pay.
Jokes on them.
I just google the copycat recipe.
A mischievous and sinister Sir Level puts Musk behind a paywall that you can only tweet to get out of muhahaha

I’m on Twitter, Elon’s been active for a while now.
He stated that Twitter is losing about $4M/day.
Noiiiiiice!
Lots of people are planning to move. He’s behaving like an ignorant jerk, but with his billions he can get away with such behaviour.
It’s all a political game
That’s a shame. I feel sorry for poor people.
He only want verified people to pay everyone else can use it for free
Do you mean that only celebrities and politicians would have to pay? And your average person gets it for free? Is that the model? That’s the way taxes should be
That’s what he’s been saying, even trolling them about it which I find pretty funny
And nothing of value was lost.
It is good that Elon is implementing Know Your Customer to streamline defamation lawsuits.
It’s a similar situation in Canada. Paywalls on some news sites. But there are free ones too.
Paid or free they are all biased in their own way, mostly left wing, but some right wing, up here, so I take what I read with a grain of salt.
I prefer to get the facts from sources outside the news and come to my own conclusions. I hear a lot of commentary/anaylsis on news tv/websites I think is wrong. I do watch and read but I think critically. I don’t have much trust in the media to be honest.
Same. And I do try to avoid most of the news if possible.
It’s just that once-in-a-blue-moon scenario when I wanna read something from say, the NYT, and that rich-ass rag is asking me to subscribe for a dollar.
It’s actually cheaper than getting the paper delivered, but the digital subscription (IMO) is hindering my ability to read and gather pertinent information— which can be essentially described as a “soft” form of censorship.
…I could always find a way to go around the paywall, but it’s just the principle of the thing.
There’s a lot of misinformation with this topic and it just shows you where we are moving with news. Yes paywall is a problem but more importantly the skew to either side of politics isn’t a good thing for humanity. Like news is news but the editorial commentary and the sold news stories make me have little faith in modern journalism.
The media is moving as fast as our poor attention spans and simple politic is the only thing getting through and that is dangerous but hey. Be cautious about what you read and have an opinion. I don’t care if your opposite to me but at least have an educated opinion about what is happening around you and criticise what you read daily. My two cents.
This about CIA agents feed us with different news by using strong journalists
