I realized I needed to make clear sections of 8 or 4.

I didn’t do it for my previous (first) beat a year ago and it was a mess for him smh

I tried adding more to the bass. Sounds great in my headphones but on laptop speakers not so much I need to master it but Im terrible at mastering lol

For the kick I need to work on that yeah. I did the drums kind of separately I need to bring it together which I can do today

And youre not being nitpicky this is for sure helping!

Yeah 4/4 time. I like 6/8 time sometimes but Im bad at rhythm naturally

I hear it. Anyways I think the solution would be a bass guitar…

Found a cover of this first song that I like. Both versions are good, but I think the cover is better

@dreamer54 I fixed a lot of the issues at this point. What do you think now?

Man it’s starting to sound real good.

I’m not a fan of the bass, I would pick something with more attack.

Imo in the mix the drums should be louder (not the hihat which is fine imo) and everything else way softer… but it’s a choice as well

Edit: ok not way louder but with more presence? Idk if it makes sense

Man I had a problem with my previous beat. It seemed that I kept editing endlessly. I was completely OCD about it changing and re-recording micro stuff until I decided to quit producing altogether.

Idk if you can relate…

Thanks man! I personally like the bass so I left that alone but I did what you said on the drums added some saturation to make it crunchy and louder and made the instruments softer. Think its ready for rapping but idk if I should do it myself or not

The track above is changed if you wanna check it out

Yep I definitely relate. I try to avoid that these days but if I dont obsess a little bit it sounds sloppy so idk. Glad youre back at it

Maaan sounds way better with the drums. I would put them even louder lmao.

You cleaned something? I can hear the mid frequencies way better, there’s a lot of stuff to hear!
And I can hear the bass better somehow

I think it’s ready for rapping.

Haha thanks man! I changed the synth a little bit and did some mixing on the guitars, made them quieter

I think its ready too. Hows your track going?
