Mood swings and distress

I have a question there are people that had experienced distress and mood swings with certain AP? Because I never had this simptoms before the medication. For distress and mood swings a mood stabilizer can help?

For mood disorders I take seroxat which helps me think more positive and motivated

Shellys you don’t experience mood swings and distress with your AP or have you experienced in the past?

i experienced mood swings with my ap when i was on invega sustenna and invega pills. i also experienced severe anxiety. but the doctor i was seeing at the time didn’t care. she just ignored me when i said i was having problems. she also yelled at me and my partner about the problems i was having with the pills and she said it was all my partner’s fault.

I normally have mood swings so, it is hard to tell if it was the ap or not. But right after increasing to 10mg abilify, I had really bad mood swings. Every day, I seemed to have a different extreme emotion - really happy — really depressed — really anxious — and so on.

@cbbrown I experienced mood swings with invega sustenna too I’m sure that’s a side effect of the AP because I never had mood swings so severe before. My pdoc has sayd the same as your. In every moment I’m different I’m depressed anxious and I crying I’m happy I’m not stable

Nic,

A mood stabilizer helps wonders. I was extremely up down, couldnt get my head around anything etc.

Apparently invega/xeplion has mood stabilizing properties in it however didnt work for me aswell as you. I had serious mood swings on invega that were definately from the AP , it just wasnt my drug…

Speak to you doc and see what they think. I take lithium with the zyprexa and my head is becoming muuuuch clearer.

Take care, friend.

@Magicfish my pdoc want maybe test with mè clozapine but I’m not sure that I will accept it because I muss make blood test and others things and clozapine is dangerous meds.
Is better ziprexa or clozapine? What do you think?

@Nic_the_mountain Hey man im no doctor

I have never been on clozapine, it seems like its a last resort due to the monthly blood tests.

Whether you go on that for a short period of time is entirely up to you doc.

How long have you been on the zyprexa? it takes awhile to kick in

I’m on invega shot now.

But I’m a littelbit confused if is it the case to change the therapy (invega) after 7 month or mantain it.

I’m pretty sure that ziprexa is better for mè because in the past I have tried it and I was high functioning on it I tried it for one month or two month. And I had fewer side effects only fatigue. I have some fear of metabolic sindrome relate to ziprexa.

Yea, i also was very low functioning when i took invega. I could hardly get out of bed.

Zyprexa is a wonderful med for me, its doing great for my symptoms, i am very high functioning on it. I actually feel guilty writing and looking at this forum as i think im so close to being normal lol.

That little bit of weight gain aint a problem for me. Im making sure i do excersize and im actually for once in my life looking " fit " i think…

Ive had intense delusions since i was 17 that i think got so ingrained in me, that only after taking zyprexa did i realized were delusions  the other meds i tried didnt do anything. Im truly grateful to it.

Good luck my man, let me know how it goes

I had mood swings while tapering off geodon, but I did not get them as a direct side effect from any meds. To be honest I already get mood swings normally so meds generally help reduce those.

Hey Anna , how’s the modafinil going… and yes I’m trying to hyjack this thread :stuck_out_tongue:

Still good! Day 3 and all is well.
