Misused word phrases…

Are there any misused word phrases that grind you gears?

My top two:

“I could care less” vs. “I couldn’t care less.” I could care less implies that you do in fact care.

“Same thing” vs. “Same difference.” Same difference doesn’t make sense. A tiger and a turtle are both not porcupines, meaning they share a same difference, but they are in fact not the same thing.

Not a phrase but regardless vs irregardless. I find it amusing how some of the most educated people will use the term irregardless instead. It is probably conditioning in hearing other’s use it.

I was just trying to think of that one. My mom used it about a week ago so it was on my mind. It was on the tip of my tongue, so thanks for that.

Most people do not know any better; either this or they don’t care which is worse.

The amount of times I see literally used when it isn’t literal at all blows my mind.

One I’m guilty of is the pronunciation of antithesis. It took me a long time to pronounce it right. I used to pronounce it anti-thesis.

One of my pet peeves is when people say labtop lmaoooo

Haha, I’m guilty of this. I thought it was a regional dialect kind of thing. In my area we say things like liberry instead of library, and melk instead of milk.

When I was in Tennessee I got a whole crowd friendly arguing about proper pronunciation. It started because I said melk, and someone else pronounced hockey as howckey and silly things like that.

Doesn’t technically answer the question but when people confuse “lose” and “loose”.

“That person is so entitled,” when they mean, “That person is so self-entitled.” Like, that person THINKS they are entitled to this thing, but they really aren’t. If you say the first one, you’re unintentionally backing them up.

I see this one from time to time on reddit.. “Unironically”. It seems like a useless phrase to say, usually, whatever comes after could have been stated without its use.

I dont understand

■■■■ you.

Why would u ■■■■ someone u dont like.
