How Many of you survives with minimum wage?
I haven’t worked since 2012 because I can’t survive on minimum wage. I couldn’t survive on it in 2012 either, I had to live with my dad.
I earn a few dollars more than minimum wage which is why I can survive. Otherwise the total amount from disability benefits from the government is just under a full-time job at minimum wage.
I wasn’t able to make ends meet on it so I changed careers.
Only a few? I’m sorry, that’s awful. Best of luck getting the amount increased.
I’m exagerating.
Well that’s good. I want to see more of us enjoying more success. We’re all still people and we all deserve to enjoy our lives, too.
With my disability pension I can make 1 thousand dollars before they start taking ODSP away slowly you can make over 2 thousand tho I’m working on getting a part time job
I can’t even work, I wish I can work at min wage lol
Lol yea I feel the same way. I can work part time but not full time. No matter how hard I try I always end up missing days and being late. I get so tired
When I tried to work in the past at the end I always end up waking up late on purpose to miss work until they fire me
I feel like the gov should have more programs like they should reward companies that hire disabled people with tax breaks.
People always complain about us disabled people taking money from welfare etc . Wth? Maybe if disabled people were given a fair shot in this world.
8/10 employers of I told them I have sz right away would have a prejudice against me though they wouldn’t say it because they could get sued
Most disabled people can work a bit atleast but it’s hard to find a job. Government incentives could fix this I feel. I don’t want a hand out, I want a hand up.
I heard here there is a program where the government pays a portion of your salary to your employer so they’re more likely to hire disabled people. They also find the job for you and its more guaranteed. I got it through my pdoc, he referred me to them and they called me.
Wow really do you know what it’s called? I’ve never heard of that before. I haven’t really looked into it tho.woukd be cool. I need a flexible part time job.
It depends on the city or region where you are. Your pdoc should know about it, ask him about it.
True thanks for the recommendation I’ll keep that in mind
