Youth isnt wasted on the young, wisdom is wasted on the old.
Old,middle aged or young , I struggle to interact with them. Some are good people. Some are not so good people. I donât think any generation has a monopoly on being good or bad. I wonder whether thereâs more pressure on the young nowadays or if itâs just a case of different pressures?
All jokes and poking at @anon9798425 aside, my rule is that people generally deserve respect until they prove that they donât (e.g. homophobe, racist, sexist, etc). Age, sex, sexuality, and skin-colour shouldnât be a consideration when dealing with someone, If they are, you will miss out on having some good and interesting people in your life because you turned them away before you had a chance to know them.
Every generation has its own unique set of challenges, and I donât doubt the M generation feels burnt out trying to organize and comprehend the plethora of data that theyâve grown up with.
I was born in March 1964. The Internet of the times was the library, and the browser was the Dewey decimal system. Newspapers and telephone books were required reading. However, the pace was not as hectic as it is today.
@anon9798425 HIV/AIDS was killing my gay and bisexual friends (in NYC) on a daily basis. There was no effective medication; contracting HIV was a death sentence. Also, openly gay and bisexual men and women could not be in the military, and there was no same-sex marriage in the States. (I believe Andrew Sullivanâs
1995 article in The New Republic (Here Comes the Groom) was a seminal moment regarding same-sex marriage in the States.)
Yeah, each generation has its own unique set of challenges.
@anon9798425 PS I hope youâre feeling better (you said on the forum that you had a med adjustment).
My uncle and his partner were casualties of the first wave of the AIDS epidemic. Lost my uncle in '90 and his partner in '92. Miss them both so much.
