Might be moving onto Paliperidone soon

My depot nurse has finally cornered the pdoc. He wants to see me on the 17th of next month. It’ll probably be the 50 mgs dose .

50 mg prolonged release suspension for injection

Each pre-filled syringe contains 78 mg paliperidone palmitate equivalent to 50 mg paliperidone.

Why the change ?

I think partially/mainly because it means less injections ie the depot nurse coming out less often to see me. I think some of it is about streamlining the work load.

She did mention there was a 3 monthly version but said the monthly version would have to be tried first.

I really don’t understand their reasoning.
If Risperdal Consta was working why the switch?

They seem very selfish.

She said Paliperidone was basically the same thing. I’m not sure how right that is. Would be interesting to hear from those that switched from Consta to Paliperidone.

I wasn’t on the injections but I switched from risperidone tablets to Invega and I can assure you, they are different.

This was a while ago.
I’m back on risperidone.
