Mentally ill woman and Mom shot and killed by 3 police officers

This disgusts me so much.
When is this kind of crap going to stop.
This is why I have a fear of the police.
So sad….

So scary. Cops have way too much power. When I was 8-12 years old, my mom dated a cop who abused me and my sister and used his gun to scare us. He told us if we told, he would kill us, and set up a crime a scene where it looked like we were bad kids and it was self defense.

When I was 10, I told my mom what he was doing to us. She said cops are good people who don’t do bad things and I was grounded and punished for a long time.

When she decided to leave him when I was 12, he followed her on her mail delivery route. She was terrified. He threatened her with the gun too. And yet, of course, she to this day doesn’t believe he abused us even though he would show up and stay at our house while she was working and we were alone.

I do NOT trust cops!

I bet when cops that shot her are in court are ask why did you shoot her, her hammer look like a gun. :gun:

That’s scary. Reading the article, I’m thinking I should continue taking my medication regularly, so I don’t show signs of mental illness. I don’t tell people I’m mentally ill either.

You shouldn’t have to fear police when you’re not a violent criminal. They should be regularly, periodically, throughout their times as officers of the law, trained in understanding mental illness and DE-ESCALIZING situations before killing people! It’s seriously not too much to ask

I maintain what I said.

Edit: I haven’t had problems with the police, so I’m not afraid.

I don’t want to be unmedicated and be misunderstood. That said, I haven’t threatened to attack anyone.

I was almost in big trouble because i had a cop lie and say i tried to take his gun luckily my dad was a cop and got me out of trouble

My cousin is an honest good cop, I don’t hate cops I just get real anxious when they are around.
Part of it is my SZA paranoia but a lot of it stems from the fact that many police officers don’t know how to react to mental illness emergencies.
Instead of de escalating the situation they attack with deadly force.

This is senseless. They could have de-escalate - even tazer her, not shoot at her while she still communicating verbally.

The details on body cam show she was not a threat with a hammer vs 3 cops with guns.

Jeez, I try and not read stuff like this. All the cops I met are really really cool. The only a-hole cop I know is one I actually know personally :rofl:

Yeah the body cam video shows no threat for 3 armed cops.
They could have easily tasered her deescalate the situation by other means.

Instead they rapid fired their guns on her and killed her.

This is a common and frequent occurrence with lots of cops
