I started taking melatonin a few days ago and I’ve had more nightmares. I read that this may be because melatonin increases the time you spend in the dream stage of sleep, therefore increasing your chances of having a bad dream.
I want to continue with melatonin cause it seems like I’m sleeping more normal amounts on it instead of 12 hours, but on the other hand, those nightmares ain’t fun.

Maybe…probably, but I think it’s trivial to quit it compared with many other things. 1mg is not very much. Some people take 10mg…then I would be more sceptical. Also you can taper melatonin if you buy it in liquid form. For example the one I take now, 6 drops equal 1mg, so three drops would be 0.5mg etc. I take 4 drops now, which is rougly 0.66mg. Seems to be enough for me.
