Medicine doesn’t really work for me as I still hear and feel the voices. Is this case for others?
It took awhile for meds to work for me even after I found meds that didn’t cause side effects. It took some time for things to settle down into a nice calm pattern and to get my stress level down. It’s sort of like a storm calming down and the wind has to die down. Once you find a med or meds that don’t have side effects you have to take it for awhile to let it work and you have to work on yourself to get your life in order and your living situation stable if need be. It’s hard work but you can do it just a little bit at a time. Don’t give up, it will get better.
It’s hard for some but still. 6 weeks at least on a med to get a result minimum. You may need to go up a level with it so that changes too.
You need to at least get to that.
It took me over two-three years to recover my insight while on medication. I think sometimes it takes awhile for the meds to work, they build up in your system for months. Also you can only really measure from the last AP you were put on. You might have to keep trying different antipsychotics until you find one that has better effects. I went through four or five different antipsychotics before landing on Zyprexa and I’ve been on that for about six months.
But like I said the medicine felt like it was doing nothing for all the time leading up to that.
I still hear voices but I dont mind. It is better than it was before meds and I dont talk back them as often anymore
A med. that has a huge effect on one person might not have any effect on another. I knew a guy who could take any amount of Stellazine, and it had no effect on him. Just a little of that stuff puts me flat on my back. I can take any amount of Trazodone with no effect, but just 50 mg of that stuff puts some people into a deep sleep for twenty hours. I’m wondering what kind of med’s you’re taking. Haldol is one drug I really don’t care for, but for a few others it is a miracle drug. It handles their symptoms with few side effects. For me, Geodon and Seroquel handle my symptoms with very few side effects. Keep trying different med’s. If the atypicals don’t work, try the typicals, and vice versa. I bet you find something that works for you.
how long do u take them?
Does not work for me either. None of the APs I have taken had any effects on my symptoms, and clozapine apparently had a bad effect on my heart.
How many meds have you tried? I tried 6 different meds before I found the one for me. So it can take time. Even now, under certain scenarios, I get occasional symptom flare ups, but usually they are quite mild. And they are rare and infrequent. So it doesn’t really bother me or affect my life anymore.
I take medication and I hear voices. But with medication my voices are soft. The don’t talk to me, they don’t humilliate me, they don’t insult me. They only sing.
Mine too. Milder and softer with meds.
And not everyday. Some days of the week
I hear them every day.
All day or some hours?
Yeah. I get the same thing. I used to hear no voices but now I do again.
Some hours, but not the same hours every day.
I usually hear them in the morning when I am alone. After noon, I watch TV and listen to music, so they are rare in the rest of the day.
But in the mornings they are eloquent

What meds have you tried already?
so r u on any meds now? how abt AD?
Meds don’t work for me. APs never really changed anything for me or made matters worse. I think my sz is a result of personality issues and real paranormal rather than just a bad chemical mix. The Anti-depressants work a little though.
