Medication question

Hey everyone, I see my pdoc this coming Friday about getting back on an antipsychotic. I’ve been on over a dozen, and can only think of three I havent been on.

Rexulti
Vraylar
Saphris

Last time I talked to him about it, before I decided to take a break from APs, he mentioned Rexulti specifically. Anyone have any experiences with any of these meds? I’m interested to hear them if anyone has. Thanks!

Saphris, I think it was, caused me to gain 10 pounds in.7 days. It was either that or Latuda. It worked, though. My pdoc stopped seeing me then. He told me that I have to trust him.

I’m sorry you had the weight gain. If this helps clarify it, Saphris is a dissolvable pill you place under your tongue. Latuda is just a normal pill. Latuda didnt really work for me.

Thanks for the reply!

It was latuda, then… I think… I was treatment resistant for many years. That time is a blur.

I’m considered treatment resistant as well.

Saphris was a horrible one for me. I gained a ton of weight. I couldn’t stop the hunger. I was always hungry.

I’m sorry to hear that. I think some of my meds work, now. It took 12 to 13 years to get here. Have you ever found any meds that worked, and then stopped? I have. It’s a pain. Lol

Good to see you! Take care.

@Cici2 I’m sorry you had that experience. Hope your current meds are helping with minimal side effects.

@JustTrish Basically every med that’s ever worked for me eventually stopped working. Even happened with clozapine. I was so fed up I’ve been off antipsychotics for 8 months now. I’m back at a point where I’m willing to try some more.

Yes, I’m not having any problems with Invega and Vraylar.

Saphris tastes like crap, I tried the flavors as well.
Pretty sedating too. I was on 20mg.

It’s not too bad if you can handle the taste.

Appreciate the reply @anon57786250

Thorazine worked for me, but I had to quit taking it because the price went up like 800 percent. It knocked me out. I’m a chronic insomniac, so I liked it.

I’m allergic to clozaril and lithium.

Sorry you’re having problems with meds. I’ve been there. :hugs:
