Man - really stressed

My med reduction has been an unmitigated failure with long term implications it seems. My previous dose of meds isn’t cutting it anymore. @Ninjastar warned me about this.

Have done all my breathing/distraction techniques but no luck. Have had 1200mg of l-theanine today. Might as well been sugar pills.

Sorry, man.

Is there anything else that helps?

When I’m stressed or having serious hallucinations,

I wrap myself in blankets like a burrito and watch my favorite cartoon on loop.

Not the sanest thing to do, but it really helps.

Feeling all bundled up is comforting, and watching something I’ve seen before keeps me from getting over invested in the plot.

Yeah am in bed now. But trying to distract myself is like trying to sleep with someone playing the drums next to my head.

Oh, I know.

Can you go on a walk?

Does that help.

That is my first go-to.

Burrito if it doesn’t work.

You’ve just gone back on the higher dose again. Give it at least 2 weeks.

You’ve never had a successful experience going off meds before…when will you stop tormenting yourself and stop these experiments :disappointed: I’m sad for you.

Hope things look up soon

It’s only been a few days. Give them time to build up in your system again before you get discouraged. If you believe they will work, there is a higher chance that they will.

Sorry Anna. This time the doctor told me to come off this med.

Did he/she know about your past history trying to come off things? I think that’s something that’s important for the provider to know. If they did then oh well, what can you do you were just following doctor’s advice.

I hope your old dose works for you again.

I did a med reduction this summer, J, and it went pretty poorly for me. It has taken some time to get back once I resumed my former dose - for me, over a month, and I’m not quite there yet. I’m finally starting to feel the improvement, though, which is a relief. I wasn’t sure it would happen.

Be gentle with yourself. It’s to be expected that you’ll feel off for a while as you stabilize. Rest, regroup, take your time reestablishing your comfort zone. Try not to jump to conclusions about how it’s going.

It helps me to imagine myself on the moon in a box in a sleeping bag with a pillow, and then I close the top of the box so it’s dark inside. Then I can feel safe and fall asleep. I guess you could try this or variations and see if it helps.
