Man i love steak these days

I buy a big juicy piece of steak at the grocery store, put it on the pan and cook it, and enjoy heaven for 5 minutes. Who’s with me?

Five minutes to consume a steak? Pshaw. Five minutes is child’s play. It takes me like three minutes.

I do love steak. But I don’t think my doc wants me eating red meat too often as a diabetic. I think if you eat it too much it can increase insulin resistance. Then theres the heart disease issue…

I guess moderation is the key.

I buy what they call “maxx packs” or “value packs”, a package of like 3 or 4 lbs of steaks that are on sale, usually it’s about 4 or 5 steaks. I cook one and freeze the rest. I just had a New York steak for dinner.

Yeah. Too much chicken in my diet and last bloodwork I was iron deficient.

New goals are eat more steak so today on payday went down the club and did the $15 lunch rump. Not bad. Diane sauce and chips and salad…Chips no good for keto but hey. Enjoyed my lunch for sure.

More read meat is in my future for sure.

Not sure why lentils, chickpeas, spinach and garbonzo beans don’t sound appetizing enough to boost your iron.:rofl::rofl:

With Keto I eat a lot of veges allready so will have a look. I appreciate the headsup so will take onboard. It’s new to me with all this stuff so just bumbling my way though it all.

I’m just kidding. I truly hate those particular vegetables which all provide a lot of iron. Given the opportunity, I’d eat steak over garbanzo beans. Like gross. They are even funny shaped.

Hey no slight. I’ll have a look.I’m honestly not a big steak person so appreciate it. Still short term it’s not bad having alternatives as I do eat a lot of chicken…

It’s all good and giggles till your looking for alternatives and I’m not opposed to that. I’ve never been a big steak man!

You could also go with an iron supplement, get it to a normal level, then maintain it by eating rich iron foods a few times a week. Though honestly if you can eat liver, that’s very iron rich. It’s worth eating. Eat it like once a week if you can.

PS I forgot tofu. You could try that.

I never liked steaks from the grocery store as much as restaurant steaks. I dropped $30 last tonight on this meal. Where do you get good tasting steaks without having to drop tons of money?

Every time when you’re iron deficient, meat of any kind has a form of iron (heme iron) that is more easily absorbed by the body. Plants contain non-heme iron which is harder to absorb. Also, if you take vitamin C with your iron source it makes it easier for the body to absorb. I WAS a dietitian in a previous time of life.

While I love eating meat, steak is probably my least favorite.

Too chewy.
