Was the climate change conference in Paris really needed last month, when it is -30 degrees Celsius, what do you think?
I like the cold weather. Tropical countries are usually hot throughout the year.
Why would sudden changes in temperature make the climate change conference redundant? I donât get the logic hereâŚ
It is typical that it is this cold here around this time of the year, to me it seems that the climate change is not warming the weather here. 10 years ago I had an automobile I brought back from America and it became very cold around this time of the year and it broke down and could not be fixed any longer. Cold does these things. I had lived in this auto over two years in Miami and elsewhere in Southern USA.
Climate change doesnât mean it will always be warmer. Weather and climate are two different things. Climate change means the weather will get more extreme and the climate warmer (most places).
Saying âoh look at the weather, climate change must not be happeningâ really just shows your lack of knowledge.
Just repeating Vladimir Putinâs words some years ago âit would not be so bad, if it got a little warmer hereâ
You are right, I may not know much about the climate change, well, I am nobody, but the weather, the temperature is more important to me, well this may mean more tropical storms in Miami and elsewhere, but these matters are so distant.
I also learn a lesson from Treebeard on climate change. Thanks!
Itâs not like this is a US problem⌠You are naive if you think climate change wonât affect your country. This is a global problem.
They say that 2015 was the hottest year on record. That means the average temperature of the world over all was the highest it had ever been measured. There are places that might benefit from global warming, but over all it would hurt humanity.
To me it appears that the warmer weather in colder nations would decrease heating costs, this means less spending in electricity and heating oil, which would not be so bad.
Sure, warmer temperature wouldnât necessarily be bad for Northern Europe, but we would still get more extreme weather, meaning worse storms and worse floods, and we could get a lot of refugees when crops start to fail in other countries, when ocean levels rise and when people are displaced from their homes because of natural disasters or wars.
Yes, it also happened here in my tropical country.
In Melbourne, however, they say that 2015 was the longest and coldest winter since many years ago. AFAIK, the seasonal change in Southern Hemisphere and Northen Hemisphere is opposite to each other.
Just one example, in the countryside there are still houses that use wood to keep houses warm in the winter, if winters are warmer, not so many trees have to be cut for the coming winter. I suppose this would be good.
I know youâre in Finland, but if youâre solely concerned with Northern Europe, think of Stockholm, or most of Denmark and the Netherlands if ocean levels rise. Think of landslides, avalanches and liquefaction of soil if glaciers and permafrost melts. Think of where the wildlife will go if their habitat changes. Itâs not just a matter of milder winters.
I suppose you are right. Maybe I am just too concerned about my immediate temperature, I have not read or studied about the climate change much. Still I remember how I lived in my auto in Miami and elsewhere over two years and when there was cold sometimes during the winter and I slept in the sleeping bag in my auto. But here where I am little warmer temperatures would not be too bad, would save some energy such as wooden logs.
It used to be called âGlobal Warmingâ, but after a couple of severe winters they changed it to âclimate changeâ. Iâm suspicious.
From what I saw despite there are period where temperatures drop to all time lows, the overall trend is everything is rising slowly.
i think so, we have had lots of flooding here in the uk in recent weeks
also i heard that the north pole was 50 degrees above average at one point and the pole had actually shifted its position.
