  1. Zopiclone, however, the doctors will only give you 1-2 weeks worth (a month or every two months) it is highly effective and addictive. You will more than likely need 7.5 mg

  2. Nytol, (in the dark blue cover) which you can buy over counter. (I am unsure if they sell this outside of the UK)

  3. Exercise before you sleep. Traditionally, If you are worn out… it will provoke sleep

Nytol is the same as Benadryl. Just diphenhydramine.

Lunesta seems to be the US equivalent of Zopiclone. But it’s not exactly the same.

I have been using 25mg Fluvoxamine to help me sleep at night this year, it is nothing special but I have not got any Trazodone at the moment.
I have spoken to my doctor and nurse already this week about my hyperphenylalaninema so I better wait a month or two before I ask for some Trazodone.
The doctors where I live are very busy and they don’t like being troubled for minor things like insomnia.

Insomnia isn’t a minor thing. If I don’t sleep well I get psychotic symptoms. That’s why I see two PDocs. One wants to take me off Lunesta.

I won’t have it. That med has made unbearable days doable.

I am so, so sorry for you, @Anna, I thought I had it bad.

I’m so sorry for you, @Simonw, that you have to deal with uncaring pdocs.

I think I may try Herbal sleeping pills, I think most of the contain Valerian Root, I do sleep at night sort of ok on my current medication which is Chlorpromazine and Paroxetine, but I wake up a lot and I have never had a good circadian rhythm without sleeping pills.

Try something natural at first, like Valerian root. I’m saying this because I’ve gotten relief from Clonazepam for sleep but at a cost. But that’s just me.

Have u tried sonata?

I take Melatonin 6 mg three hours before I go to bed. Seems to work pretty good in making me sleepy. If that doesn’t work by 2 am, I take Klonipin 0.5 mg. That usually always knocks me out. I very rarely have to take Klonipin for sleep.

Precious!! Tomorrow is the anniversary of when I first got my rats. Sadly one is no longer with us so I will be celebrating with just one sister this year. She is old now!! 2 years 2 months!! I got her a present & will make her a special treat tomorrow.

Also that is horrible they don’t care about your insomnia. Insomnia is not a minor thing. Sleep troubles are shown to have very strong connection to mental illness and lack of sleep can make symptoms more severe. I hope you can get good help for it soon.
