This guy asked me if he could borrow $20 yesterday, and I turned him down. Then he asked if he could borrow six dollars, and I turned him down again. I was perfectly polite when I turned that guy down. The thing is, he gets a LOT more money than me on paydays. Everyone in this place gets a LOT more money than me on payday. But I’m usually carrying money because I am very careful how I spend my money. Most of the other guys spend a lot on cigarettes and junk food. They buy their clothes retail, and I buy my clothes out of thrift stores.
Don’t lend.
If someone needs money and I can spare it I gift it and there is no expectation of repayment.
Prevents hard feelings down the road.
I agree. Gift is great loans are frought
Same. I’ve had people “borrow” money, but when I handed it out, I knew I’d never see it again, so I haven’t been frustrated or disappointed yet.
don’t lend…especially in a group home, could lead to fighting…good for you for being frugal.
i would say always be open to lending to others but if theyre making more money than you then it doesnt really make sense… thats just unfair… maybe once or twice but if theyre consistently wasting their own money then taking from you who has less its just disrespect.
That’s it. They need to learn how to use the resources they have. They can’t go around spending blindly and expect other people to take up their slack. If you lend money to people who do that they are going to come back again and again and again.
