I’m trying to make some changes in my life. Eat less and exercise more. Today I did a 20minutes walk. I think it’s a good start and should do it everyday. I also but an alarm for tomorrow morning at 6 o’clock to do another walk. We’ll see how that goes.
I ate pretty healthy - eggs (low carb) for breakfast some cheese (low carb) - almond milk -Yesterday I walked for 25 minutes, today I will walk some more - good for you on the positive changes, good luck to you @catukas!
That’s awesome you both are making positive changes. I read an article about losing weight and it really stressed that you should drink a lot of water. Last night I started drinking a lot of water. Recently I have lost weight. My appetite has greatly reduced because of med changes and now I’ve only been eating twice a day just enough to take my Geodon. A month ago I got my dress for my cousin’s wedding. It was the biggest size they made, a size bigger then I take, and it was too small. I thought I wouldn’t be able to be in the wedding. I tried it on not that long ago and it fit. Now I just have to keep doing something so it will fit by the wedding in September. Good luck to you and keep it up.
thing is @catukas for me it is so hard to stick to a routine, i just exercise when i can which is not very often, i have been trying my best to stop eating rubbish tho and diet.
Don’t feel bad, it’s really hard to do. I’ve struggled with my weight all my life. The article I read said the woman made small changes. She started drinking tons of water and cut out all other drinks. She also used smaller dinner plates. I’m trying to make small changes, but I still get cravings for bad food. And it’s so hard to exercise. They say if you develop a routine, like taking a walk after dinner, it’s easier to have the motivation. But the most important thing is to love yourself no matter how much you weigh. Look at people who are anorexic. A person could weigh 88lbs and think they are fat. Plus if you love yourself you will want to take care of yourself. I’m really trying with that.
@daydreamer maybe if you start doing little changes? For example when I have started again training. I run, not much and after that I’m exhausted and don’t do it again for a long time. So this time I chose walking. 20minutes is enough, Even if you start with 10minutes that would be great!
The same goes for @cbbrown … try doing litlle steps .
About today. I couldn’t wake up at 6 o’clock in the morning but I did my 20minutes walk some hours later
I gained 5 kilos from my new med Amisupride. It’s hard to lose this weight. I eat only two small meals each day and no snacks. I drink a lot of water. Now I can’t fit myself into the clothes I bought years ago and have to buy new clothes.
i tried a gentle form of hatha yoga last week for an hour and my back has been really bad last few days and my chest, idk what i have done but i’m going to the docs today to get it checked, i was supposed to be volunteering but i had to go in and tell them and they said i should go to the doctors, i have tried a lot of things but everything is so hard for me,
i have a condition that stops me from doing a lot of strenuous exercise involving walking or running and sitting down like on a bike, thats why i had been going to an aikido class as it is easier on that condition, i wish they could sort it out at the docs its horrible.
i don’t think i’ll be doing the yoga any time soon thats for sure
I have been using a food diary app (myfitnesspal)for almost 2 years now and carry a pedometer. I usually average about 6000 steps a day just keeping busy and noticed that 8k a day is when I really start losing pounds. The myfitnesspal app is nice because it helped me discover that I had a very low potassium and vitamin a deficient diet so I upped my veggie intake. I also keep tabs on my sodium and saturated fat. My weight has plateaued a bit at 202 (I am 5’ 9") but I feel and look much better and have more energy. I think I have more muscle than before.
I didn’t have much luck trying to lose weight by exercising really hard. I tended to get sugar dips and ended up bingeing a lot. It helps that my wife and I live on the third floor of our apartment building so that forces us to do stairs several times each day.
I’ll lose weight with ya! Don’t blame it on the meds! It’s all up to you. I lost 40 lbs since I reprogrammed my brain. To find out all the info on getting ripped! Study it for awhile th en you will develop a solid plan and be comitted! I’m talking about even on days when you don’t feel like it. You had better do it. Progress is really slow. Don’t be decieved. Over the course of time is when the results and dedication pays off. The reward is large. Make it thru one year. Don’t look back!
take your 20 minute walk for instance.and in a month’s time turn it into a 30 minute walk. And then look at your nutrition for a day and see if you can make any improvements like a reduction.and let’s say we decide not to eat a muffin and we decide not to eat a muffin every day for a month. Over a month time it all adds up.
That’s cool @lesterwaynedobo ! Thank you! Today is my third day and I already did my walking. Maybe going later again. It’s strange with me. There are times when I am programmed to eat almost nothing for days and the opposite, meaning only eating. Lately I eat not much but one thing I can’t live without is meat and it goes great with some kind of salad. I’m gonna weight myself on friday… and I will also keep you updated!
even as i type this, i’m thinking of getting a pizza…my problem is prepping and cooking separate meals for me and my son. i lack motivation at the best of times so it’s often easier to pick up the phone or go out to eat. i have lost two and a half stone in a year and a half but it’s not enough for me to feel good enough. i still have a belly and flabby arms. i’d like to lose another stone, it’s just finding the discipline to plan meals is a problem for me. i will get there eventually though. hey, if i could lose 2 and a half stone, what’s another stone right? xxx
Most noticeable losses of weight are due to loss of body fluids. You can sweat out pounds after pounds of body fluids, but you cannot lose more than one pound of body fat a day. A single pound of body fat has about four thousan calories. You will sweat out several pounds of body fluids before you lose one pound of body fat.
Well maintaining a consistent diet can be fun! You get to learn much about what’s good for you! Also when and how much to eat during the day. To accomplish your goals. Fasting can deprive the brain and body of much needed nutrients. As schizophrenics we require much from our diets. Supplements help much. B vitamins. If your male testosterone supplements. Will help you get to feeling like yourself again. Don’t overdo be careful to give your body rest. If you’ve been exercising much. Rest and recovery being away from stress. Cortisol develops in the body and that is what exhausts us. Sleep so the body can recover from being active is essential.
