Latuda or Lybalvi?

I’m seeing my pdoc on Tuesday. I’m currently taking Latuda 20mg and have just started it after quitting Zyprexa (olanzapine). Let’s just say it’s not working well for my symptoms at this dose. I’m not sleeping well and have been having breakthrough delusional thinking, which i am able to handle with CBT techniques.

Should i ask my pdoc to titrate up the Latuda dose or go back to Zyprexa, but in the Lybalvi formulation (which is supposed to improve the hunger issues with the addition of samidorphan). I can’t take too many other APs cuz of the history of QTc prolongation.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Tell your pdoc all of the above maybe he’ll help you. I used to take latuda and it caused me anxiety. Latuda may help so don’t take me too seriously. I hope you get to feeling better. Hugs

your latuda dose is low and ineffective for schizophrenia. the lowest effective dose of latuda for schizophrenia is 40mg/day and it can be increased up to 160mg if needed .

You may want to consider going on Lybalvi, especially if Zyprexa was working well for you.
Also I would give Lybalvi a try if your schizophrenia is not a milder case.

I’ve tried Lybalvi. After dosing for two nights, I immediately stopped due to insomnia and body ache. I’m a lifelong Olanzapine.

If weight gain is an issue, try titrating to a lower dosage first. When I lowered my dose of Olanzapine, the insatiable need for fluids (dry mouth) stopped, as did the desire to devour everything.

Thanks for the advice. I was on 20mg of olanzapine before, so maybe a slightly lower dose could be effective, too.

Do you have Zyprexa depot?

I don’t think we have the Zyprexa depot…but i don’t like depots ever since i was court-ordered to have them back in 2018. Back then it was the haldol and Abilify shots.

I’m on latuda 160 mg and things are the same… I will say that side effects are very mild tho. I also take it at bedtime
