Hi I am wondering if anyone has experience taking Melatonin. Specifically I am wondering if Latuda and Prozac conflicts with Melatonin. I am considering taking Melatonin because I wake up every hour when I sleep. This causes significant disturbance in my sleep and affects my productivity during the day. Thanks.
Try talking to your pharmacist-they can tell you what drugs interact with each other **
I have tried Melatonin, it did not really work for me, I suppose it works for some people. I have different psych meds from yours, but I did not experience any conflicts,
I too use to wake up every hour. I was constantly exhausted and to get through my three day 40 hour week I took caffeine pills and coffee . Finally said something to my internist who sent me for a sleep study for sleep apnea. Since. Was put on a cpap machine at night I sleep about four hours at a stretch. (Then I’m up to go to the bathroom). And find it easy to go back to sleep.
I would talk to your regular doctor and see if he suggests one for you. It could be transforming. Since I’ve been on the machine without dieting I lost twelve pounds in a month. Slowly but surely I am still continuing to loose weight
I’ve tried Melatonin, it didn’t help me a bit. I’ve been taking 0.5 mg of Ativan for a year now to treat my insomnia. There are no side effects and helps me sleep up to 9 hours peacefully.
Be careful with melatonin, you don’t want to get addicted! I nearly did and had to stop taking it, I’m ok now but I found myself getting extremely ill if I didn’t take it, I had to wait a week or two for the withdrawals to go away.
You can buy Melatonin freely at pharmacies where I am. When I have tried it, I did not find it addictive, but again Melatonin did not work with me.
Thanks guys. I had a sleep test done and it says I don’t have sleep apnea. I tried asking a pharmacist but he told me to go ask my physician lol. But my physician is on holiday.
I used to take melatonin. Now I take Trazodone instead.
If you’re taking melatonin to aid your sleep, another supplement you might try is valerian root. Also eliminate caffeine consumption four hours before bedtime. Some sources of caffeine are sodas, coffee regular and decaf, same with black and green tea including decaf and chocolate.
Melatonin? My docs said I can and should take 10mg every night because I am not normal and normal people take up to 3mg.
It often does the job. I take three 3mg pills of melatonin every night. They do screw with receptors which often cause vivid dreams though.
Yea I was wondering if the caffeine is the problem but then I drink caffeine usually at 4pm so around 6-8 hours before my sleep. I drank a star bucks energy drink two days in a row and have not slept well. Both days I have taken melatonin, first night 3mg, second night 6mg. I am going to try 9 mg tonight mortimer. What do you mean by vivid dreams? As in able to control your dreams or dreams that seem so real that you wake up from them?
I used to be able to control them. I mean chronic vivid nightmares. I sometimes wake up from them, like last night, but I managed to go back to sleep.
