Large portions of brain dead after 15 years of schizophrenia

feel free to lock the thread, Im only posting this because after many years of trial and error with meds Ive found that I only get so much better. I used to believe in full recovery because I had recovered a couple times but now Ithink that psychosis (or the meds) cause permanent brain damage. My condition seems to be progressive, maybe some aren’t. More power too you if yours isn’t.

Thank you. The high powered neurologist said my brain isn’t Sz, the guy I saw said the brain size (shrinking in the front and sides) is due to the low acetylcholine levels caused by the myasthenia. That can cause psychosis, just like in Alzheimer’s.

Schizophrenia can be progressive.

My Negative Symptoms have gotten worse over time.

I agree with you MG - APs are far from being perfect.

They are full of dangerous side effects - some fatal.

But at the same time APs are keeping me out of the Hospital and Prison System.

I apologize if I came across as being rude with you.

I think it’s possible to get better with time due to neuroplasticity. We need to be optimistic.

I enjoyed the video. Thanks @far_cry0!

Sorry for dividing the conversations but @MeghillaGorilla1 you are too pessimist about medicines.i m not sure what do you mean about brain dead but medicine doesn t cause brain dead , sz doing this and medicines are preventing this brain cell deaths.before i was medicines i couldnt watch movies and i couldn t read even 5 page without loss of concentration but now medicines are highly improved my life standarts.now i can read 3 hours heavily required high iq books without distractions and i can watch movies tv show etc.i used to search brain shrinkage due to ap but its not important percentage.normal brain shrinkage rate is %5 and ap related brain shrinkage is %7.

@anon68444330 which Medication are u on…??? just got curious…!!!

My brain is F%$#@&*. :slight_smile:

I cant remember simple things and education and names etc and it is so embaressing (can be humiliating too) and cant keep up intellectual conversations or debate etc.

I say keep simple conversations go well though.

Was suprised today that i managed to chat with 3 woman.
We chated simple things but still…

Worried about meeting my boyfriends friends and family who seem to be educated and smart fancy talkers lol
I wont be able to answer questions or keep up.
Things i learnt, read, studied… baaaa empty and blanc in my head and i come across as super dumb which in fact may be the truth.

But grateful i am that can shower self, do own cooking, shopping, drive auto, walk , talk simple talk etc

It would not suprised me if i have dead brain parts but they did not seem to detect anything on my brain scans (or they didnt tell me) .
Sad but i believe it also can heal and i beleive in miracles and grateful for other things that is going well, doable etc

@far_cry0 i m on invega sustenna

I definitely feel more stupid and slower now than before the onset of my illness. I don’t want to cause trouble but I do think I’m dumbed down on meds. Whatever the case, I think it’s easier to deal with schizophrenia while sedated than while psychotic. When I wasn’t taking meds I didn’t feel as slow, still not quite as bright as before but over time I lost touch with reality. Psychotropic medications are far from perfect but this country doesn’t have a non-med treatment alternative and there probably isn’t a viable one sadly. Maybe with the right amount of support… if I don’t take meds I lose touch with reality, if I take the meds I don’t lose touch with reality. Unfortunately, the medication does have it’s side effects.
