I feel like chromebooks are the best for basic use, theyre reall affordable too. You could buy one and have money to spare which might come in handy with winter coming so soon

I don’t know much about chrome books but they are affordable and I heard good things about it for the exact use case you mentioned.

there operating system is not overly complicated that needs constant updates.

Thank you all. I had a bad time this morning with my laptop playing up - ‘keyboard not detected’. My youngest granddaughter eventually managed to sort things. I was in full catastrophising mode. Battery for some reason wouldn’t recharge, but is now showing 100% fully charged. Battery status good.

For about that price you can get a laptop with intel i7 10th gen and GTX 1660 ti graphics. A decent gaming laptop, for example, Lenovo Legion 5. Might take a bit of luck though. My advice is to look at those GTX 1660 ti models, should handle anything you throw at it.

I’m using a used Lenovo tablet now £65. You can get an amazing laptop way cheaper then £500.

I have a tablet. I used it while in hospital;after the hip op.
