My case manager took me to the clubhouse for the first time this year and I don’t think I’ll be going back.
The people there seemed really low functioning and most of them were homeless or come from shelters.
I felt out of place to be honest.
Maybe I’ll go to a senior center instead.
Maybe you should look into NAMI. Since they have all kinds of MI, surely many people will be higher functioning. And if you’re in the US, there is bound to be a meeting near you.
Yeah I could of told you that about clubhouses. Full of low functioning people that chain smoke and dont have any money. I’m not trying to make fun here. Maybe try a nami meeting or that peer to peer.
Yeah, @Wave, you’ve maybe saw me post about the recovery centre, and that’s pretty much what it is a clubhouse. There aren’t a lot of women there, and some of the men there act like brats, imo as you can imagine. I try to gravitate towards the more mature men there, so that’s one thing I’m still getting out of it.
Yah that is sad. Wish I could help. You might want to try it again. Where I volunteer there is always new people coming in and out. Today I made friends with this very low functioning girl that likes the same bands as me. She was super chill even though she was a little hard to talk to.
I know what you mean. Im sorry it was a dispointment @Wave.
I can relate. Our mi recovery cafe is full of low functioning people. It makes me quite sad. Plus they were super clique y.
Which didn’t help one bit.
